Using Unified Acupuncture Theory to Treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS): Balancing Meridians with Distal Acupuncture

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a painful condition of the hand and fingers caused by compression of a major nerve where it passes over the carpal bones through a passage at the front of the wrist. This course will examine the meridians affected by CTS, determine the interacting meridians, the distal image of the affected region, and the placement of the needles for the treatment of CTS.

While traditionally, TCM treatment would consist of placing needles along the affected meridian and area, this approach is often painful for the patient and has limited lasting effects. By treating distally using the Unified Acupuncture Theory (UAT) approach, which includes Dr. Tan’s balance method- Tung methods- Manaka Japanese Meridian Theory-amongst other acupuncture models, patients will have instant verification of the efficacy of the treatment as well as notice long-term improvement in the compression of the carpal tunnel.
